Access Statement For The Hytte
Introduction
The Hytte was designed from the out set as a great "get together" venue for families and friends and has been adapted to meet the needs of guests with disabilities, ensuring all family members and friends can enjoy a holiday together.
We have been assessed as "Access Exceptional" Achieving the standards for either independent wheelchair users or assisted wheelchair users and fulfils additional, more demanding requirements providing for several levels of mobility impairment (with reference to the British Standard BS 8300:2001).
The Hytte's philosophy is "Accessible to all".
Pre-Arrival
- Large print brochures and accessible website, text phone, fax and e mail available.
- Extensive information available to guests regarding accessible places to visit, restaurants, local shops, amenities and services.
- Groceries - an order can be taken and placed in the Hytte on arrival.
- Tea, coffee, biscuits, basket of fruit and homegrown free range eggs on arrival.
Arrival & Car Parking Facilities
- Guests personally met on arrival, assistance available, and familiarization tour.
- Parking for up to six cars, spaces next to front door, well lit level paving with wide ramped or stepped access with handrails on both sides.
Main Entrance & Reception
- Main entrance, door width 800mm, lever handle, push opening, hinged door.
- Rear doors door width 900mm, horizontal handle. Sliding doors, flush thresh.
- Ground floor level throughout; with open plan living/dining/kitchen area provides space for wheel chairs to manoeuvre. Wooden floors throughout inside with rugs, which can be removed.
- All windows where possible have been lowered. All internal doors 800mm wide.
- Accessible light switches and sockets.

- Sauna is not wheelchair accessible (however more agile wheelchair users have accessed the sauna with relative ease - assistance available)

- Set in over one acre of its own private grounds, most of the gardens and grounds are wheelchair accessible, wheelchair accessible garden furniture.
- Decked verandah, play field with trampoline, basketball net, badminton and football goal, wildlife area and raised flowerbeds, scented and tactile plants.

- Two twin bedrooms suitable for wheelchair users (level M3 Independent) provides 1200mm turning space and unobstructed transfer space to bed on left or right side of 900mm,
- The larger more accessible bedroom ( level M3Assited) provides 1500mm turning space and room for carer or mobile hoist, with clear left or right transfer space and offers the choice of twin or king size electric beds and teletext TV
- The double bedroom may not be accessible to some as the antique bed is 27" or 69cms high, otherwise provides 1200mm turning space.

- Bedrooms are furnished with wardrobes that have adjustable hanging and shelf space, touch control bedside lamps. Vanity shelf and chair with rigid arms
